    Constituent Calling Guide

Before calling your group's members, be sure to have contact information ready for their elected officials

If you have your member's addresses, you can enter it at http://tinyurl.com/fk5tm .

The website will provide you with the names and contact information for their Senators and Representatives.

If you do not have their addresses, you can supply them the http://tinyurl.com/fk5tm or ask them their addresses while they are on the phone and look their representatives up for them.

For maximum effectiveness, we suggest asking constituents to ask to speak to the legislative assistant on trade issues in each congressional office when they call. Global Justice for Animals can email you a list of names and phone numbers for the legislative assistants on trade to most member of Congress. Please insert these names into the script when calling constituents. Where no name is provided, you can ask members to simply ask to speak to the office's legislative assistant on trade issues generically.

If you have any questions, please call Global Justice for Animals' organizerAdam Weissman at (201) 928-2831 or email adam@freetradekillsanimals.org

Here's a script to use for calling your group members:

    SAMPLE SCRIPT

Hi, my name is ___________________, and I'm calling on behalf of ________________ to ask you to call your members of Congress to ask them to vote against the anti-animal Peru Free Trade Agreement.  Do you need a moment to grab a pen?

Next week the US Senate and the US House of Representatives will be voting on the Peru Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act.   If ratified, this agreement will cause major expansion of inhumane factory farms, increased hunting of rainforest wildlife, and the destruction of Amazon rainforest habitat, resulting in the deaths of countless rainforest animals. You can learn more about this issue by visiting www.freetradekillsanimals.org

You can help stop the passage of the Peru Free Trade Agreement by calling your Senators and Congresional representatives!

Please call Senator ________  at ____________.. Ask to speak to ________________, Senator ______________'s aide on trade issues._______________________________

Also call Senator __________ at ____________. Ask to speak to ________________, Senator ______________'s aide on trade issues_______________________________

Finally, call Representative ______________________ at ______________________ and ask to speak to Representative _______________'s aide on trade issues______________________.

When speaking to your Senators' and Rep's aides, be sure to provide them with your name and address. Tell them that you are unequivocally opposed to this agreement, which will lead to expansion of inhumane factory farms in Peru and the United States and contribute to the destruction of habitat for rainforest wildlife. Ask how your Senators and Rep intends to vote on the Peru Free Trade Agreement. After the aide gives you your Congressmember's position, ask for a response to your call in writing.

    Do you have any questions?

Thanks for taking action to stop animal suffering! Have a great day.
