  • Dominican Republic-Central American Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA)

Passed on July 31, 2005, DR-CAFTA, which includes the US, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua will lead to expanded factory farming and increased destruction of wildlife habitat in El Salvador, Guatemala. While Costa Rica is also included in the Agreement, the Costa Rican legislature has not passed DR-CAFTA at this time, as a result of staunch public opposition.
